RESTAURANT CHINA CHAOSHAN PALACE 潮汕楼
About This Spot
Stepping into China Chaoshan Palace on Jl. Sriwijaya feels like entering a warm, lively enclave tucked within the heart of Surabaya. The four-story space offers a sense of unhurried familiarity—where the hum of friendly chatter blends with the soft glow of carefully placed lighting, making every corner inviting without overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where families gather comfortably, and friends find quiet moments amid rich aromas that promise a genuine culinary journey.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and thoughtfully appointed, with private rooms hinting at special celebrations while the main dining areas buzz with everyday conviviality. There’s a relaxed rhythm here, a gentle pace that encourages savoring time as much as savoring food. Whether you arrive for a weekday meal or a weekend treat, the mood stays welcoming and easygoing.
At the heart of the experience is the authentic Chaoshan cuisine, deeply rooted in Guangdong’s culinary tradition. Dishes appear like stories on the table—anchored by thoughtful blends of textures and flavors that comfort and intrigue. The warmth of soups and the satisfying crisp of select fried offerings linger with you, creating a sense of homey indulgence. The ever-present scent of braised and simmered specialties invites a patient anticipation, rewarding those who sip and taste slowly, letting each bite unfold.
This is a place where the food aligns with the atmosphere, crafting moments that feel personal rather than clinical. From the bustling all-you-can-eat dim sum occasions to quieter dinners featuring intimate pork and seafood dishes, the experience is rooted in genuine care. It’s clear that attention to detail and the joy of shared meals define not just the flavors but the pace and spirit of the restaurant.
Above all, China Chaoshan Palace embraces a quietly festive spirit, reflected in touches like LED-lit private rooms and pockets of light-hearted camaraderie. Here, food is a backdrop to connection—where subtle smiles, clinking glasses, and the easy hum of conversation make every visit more than just a meal, but a warmly familiar gathering.

Tried the all you can eat dimsum yesterday. Price was reasonable (IDR 118K++/pax excluding drinks) with 2-hour time limit. There weren't too many variants for the dimsum. Even some of the popular ones like changfen / cheung fan (rice noodle rolls ) and danta (egg tarts) weren't available. Taste was it was so so, nothing special. The garlic fried chicken was no longer crispy. It must have been out on display for a while. Service was good.

Chaoshan Palace is hands down one of my favorite Chinese spots in Surabaya. The food is super authentic—the chef’s from Guangdong, so every bite hits just right. I’m totally hooked on their pork dishes, and the suan cai yu and chicken & tito soup are absolute comfort food, like a warm hug on a rainy day. They also have all-you-can-eat dim sum with plenty of great choices. The vibe is always relaxed, and the service is top-notch, especially Ce Suzan, who’s great at taking care of everyone. Whenever I’m craving real Teochew flavors, this place never lets me down! I won’t hesitate to recommend this to my family and friends, and I’ll be back for more!
